How does the BPM and key finder work?
Everything runs locally in your browser with the Web Audio API — your file is decoded on your device and never uploaded. Tempo comes from onset-energy autocorrelation, key from the Krumhansl–Schmuckler pitch-profile method, and loudness follows the ITU-R BS.1770 standard used by streaming platforms.
Is it accurate?
BPM detection is reliable for most produced music; if a result looks doubled or halved (e.g. 70 vs 140), both are shown — that ambiguity is inherent to tempo detection. Key detection is a strong estimate for tonal music and less certain for sparse or heavily atonal tracks.
What audio formats work?
